After graduating from the Université de Montréal in 2007, I transitioned to specialization in 2009 after two years of general practice in the small animal field. Dr. Maya Popovic

DVM, Board Certified Veterinary Dentist™

Dentistry and Oral Surgery

I pride myself on providing quality veterinary care and passing on my knowledge in veterinary dentistry to veterinarians and pet owners alike. Spending my first 9 years as a veterinarian in general private practice (2011-2020), a significant part of my time was spent mentoring student veterinarians in feline medicine while working with Dr. Susan Little (DVM, DAVBP feline) at the Bytown Cat Hospital (2015-2020). My dedication to education continued as a dentistry resident at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire at the Université de Montréal (2020-2023), where I mentored veterinary students through clinical rotations in dentistry and oral surgery, as well as facilitated laboratories in small animal dental radiographic techniques and dental extractions. I am a current member of the Resident Education Committee of the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC), helping to facilitate the educational programs offered to veterinarians in formal dental residency programs (2024-present). Since achieving my board certification with the AVDC in 2023, I am excited to spread knowledge as a board certified veterinary dentist by facilitating hands on dental laboratories, and lecturing about veterinary dentistry to the veterinary community at large.
